Police and court briefs Elyria man faces felony drug charge
Authorities charged Mitchell A. Johnson, 27, of Elyria, with cocaine possession, a fifth-degree felony, and possession of a controlled substance and OVI, both first-degree misdemeanors, after they say he caused an accident, according to an Elyria police report.
Johnson was transported to UH Elyria at 12:15 p.m., March 25, the report said.
Johnson caused a minor accident on Lake Avenue, but was found going in and out of consciousness, the report said.
He was given Naloxone at the hospital and recovered.
Alprazolam pills and cocaine were found tucked into Johnson’s underwear, the report said.
He must appear April 2 before Elyria Municipal Court Judge Gary C. Bennett.
$20,000 charge put on man’s credit card
Police are investigating a fraud incident where a man was charged $20,000 without his consent, according to a Bay Village police report.
The 39-year-old Bay Village man’s U.S. Bank Credit Card was charged at an undisclosed auto parts store in the state.
The incident occurred at 12:20 p.m., March 22, the report said.
There are no suspects at this time.
Woman threatened on Facebook
Police are looking into an incident where a 68-year-old Vermilion woman received threatening Facebook messages by mistake.
The woman told police she received threatening messages on the social media platform at 7:40 p.m., March 24, according to a Vermilion police report.
She said she was being mistaken for another woman who teaches at Sandusky High School, the report said.
The investigation will continue and information has been given to the Sandusky Police Department.
