LCCAA Winter Crisis Program ending

Lorain County Community Action Agency announced its Winter Crisis Program will end March 30, according to a news release.

The program provides one-time assistance in paying a bill or reconnect for households at or below 175 percent of the federal poverty line, the release said.

Appointmen­ts can be made by calling 855-8069620 but walk-ins also are accepted.

Community Action Agency serves clients at three locations: main office at 936 Broadway in downtown Lorain; Wellington Village Hall, 115 Willard Memorial Square; and a new satellite location at St. Agnes Church, 611 Lake Ave. in Elyria.

Elyria office has added walk-in hours for the last weeks of the program. Walk-ins will be seen from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, and by appointmen­ts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Lorain office hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mondays, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.

The Wellington office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, during the crisis period. Wellington only allows walkins in the morning and by appointmen­t in the afternoon.

The Winter Crisis program is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and administer­ed by the Ohio Developmen­t Services Agency’s Office of Community Assistance, according to the release.

Existing First Energy customers living at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty line can receive assistance at any Community Action Agency office on a first come, first serve basis.

No crisis or disconnect situation is needed.
