Cornerstone Farms to hold open house
New subdivision welcomes guests on city’s west side
Lorain’s newest neighborhood is getting ready to open its doors.
K. Hovnanian Homes will hold an open house for Cornerstone Farms, the development adding about 150 new homes on 53 acres of land at the northeast corner of Kolbe and Jaeger roads on Lorain’s west side.
The open house will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 14 and 15.
The subdivision was in the planning phases for months in 2017.
With the expectation of more traffic in the area, Lorain City Council also debated the best methods to pay for the resurfacing of Kolbe Road from Jaeger Road to West Erie Avenue, which also is U.S. Route 6. The developer will contribute up to $450,000 to improvements such as storm sewers, downstream storm water management, road repairs, sidewalks and other amenities.
Once City Council approved the plans, developer K. Hovnanian Cornerstone Farms LLC began construction and now there are streets leading into the new neighborhood. Two model homes, known as the Eastwood and the Waterford II, are built.
Cornerstone Farms will feature homes up to 2,622 square feet in size, with four bedrooms and two full and one half bathrooms in its base home design, according to plans from the company.
“Unique features of this community are four all-new home designs, including a ranch — the Eastwood, and opportunities for additional first-floor suites,” according to plans from the company.
“We’re excited to celebrate the opening of Cornerstone Farms,” said Kelly Kreischer, director of sales and marketing for the company’s northern Ohio division.
“We don’t normally get the opportunity to introduce this many new home designs in addition to our best-selling floorplans,” she said. “The availability of both 40- and 50-foot lots and cul de sac home sites means that there will be something for every buyer, from first-timers to those looking to move up into something a bit larger.”
Kreischer noted new home buyers could qualify for the city’s property tax abatement for the Community Reinvestment Act zone on the west side. Cornerstone Farms also sits in the area of Lorain that is in the Amherst Exempted Village School District.
