Prosecutor’s Office announces gambling investigation with multiple agencies
Law enforcement officers from several agencies served search and seizure warrants in connection with a multi-agency investigation involving illegal gambling, according to a news release Aug. 16 from Lorain County Prosecutor Dennis P. Will.
Officers from Lorain, Summit, Cuyahoga, Erie, Stark and Ottawa counties participated in the raids.
The investigation into these locations and individuals is ongoing and no further information will be provided at this time, the release said.
The Prosecutor’s Office is working with the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, Lorain Police Department, Amherst Police Department, Sheffield Village Police Department, Ohio Casino Control Commission and the Ohio Department of Taxation Criminal Investigations Division to determine the nature and extent of criminal activity, according to the release.
According to authorities, a business located at the Sheffield Center in Sheffield Township was a part of the raids.
