Example of bullying starts at the top

-

I just saw and read another article in the newspaper about bullying incidents in one of the school districts.

There have been many of them in the past months and before that as well.

The results have created many problems for students and others. In some cases, it has even led to suicides. It is a horrible thing.

As I read this article I had to think how ironic it is that so many people have complained about this at the school level, yet are willing to forgive or ignore those who do bullying at a higher level.

I wondered how many people who are complaining about the bullying in the schools may have voted for Donald Trump yet are willing to forgive or ignore the constant name calling and bullying that he does on a fairly regular basis?

Like so many problems we face today such as the bullying, the opioid crisis, etc., we seem to be focused on fixing the problems after they have happened.

Am I the only one that thinks maybe it would be a good idea to try to fix the problem so that it does not happen?

In the case of the bullying you can thank the trickle-down effect for much of it. It is what our young people see on a daily basis and often assume it is the norm.

How quick we are to condemn them for it.

Am I the only one who expects our leaders to set an example for our young people? I hope not.

Remember folks in so many cases it starts at the top.

If we expect our young people to be respectful of others should we not expect our leaders to do the same? George Caruso
