A new Starbucks is coming to Sheffield Village.

Mayor John D. Hunter said one of America’s favorite coffee shop chains will replace the Burger King at 5051 N. Abbe Road.

Hopefully, the store will be ready for Christmas, just in time for holiday-themed beverages to the heart’s desire, Hunter said.

“We are really excited about it coming in, and we are just waiting for them to finish,” he said.

“They hope to have it open for the holidays for Christmas. So, they’re pushing to see what they can get done.”

Interior and exterior construction work continues through this first week of December.

The restaurant located at the heart of the Village’s commercial corridor is close to Lorain County Community College, Interstate 90/state Route 2 and a number of other commercial retail locations.

The new location on North Abbe Road will become the second Starbucks in Sheffield Village joining another restaurant at Lorain County Community College.

Hunter said the new location is expected to have about 25 employees.

He also noted that as the location is replacing an existing structure, it did not require the approval of the village’s Planning Commission and was granted approval by village zoning inspectors and the Sheffield Village Fire Department.

According to the Lorain County Auditor’s Office, the property sold in June, 2018, for $1.3 million by Cal Ohio LLC to 5051 North Abbe LLC. The property is currently assessed at a value of $1.25 million.

The structure recently underwent more than $250,000 in interior and exterior upgrades.
