Market Square at Crocker Park hosting two-man show ‘Potted Potter’

It’s been a few weeks since the release of the latest film set in the universe of author J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” stories, “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.”

Man, the hard-core Potterheads probably already going through withdrawals.

Well, it’s not official “Potter” goodness, but Northeast Ohio fans may want to check out “Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience,” a two-man parody show setting up shop at Market Square at Crocker Park in Westlake, in partnership with Great Lakes Science Center, according to a news release. The show is set to run Dec. 15 through Jan. 6.

“Potted Potter” was created by Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner and will be performed in Westlake by James Percy and Jesse Briton.

“This unique production goes where no other Harry Potter fan has ever gone before, accepting the challenge of condensing all seven franchise books into 70 ‘hilarious’ minutes,” the release states. It adds that the show “combines the franchises’ favorite characters with elaborate costumes, props, brilliant songs and an incredible cast to keep you entertained and laughing throughout the entire production.”

It debuted in Toronto, where it made a successful run, and has since been performed in New York, San Francisco, Chicago and London, as well as other locations.

“Combining both the intricate and ever so popular stories of Harry Potter with a funny twist and a beautiful visual aesthetic, Market Square will be the ideal venue to transform into the perfect landscape for this production, as the original idea of the space was meant for,” the release promises.

“My initial vision for Market Square was to be a space for the arts and theater, a communal venue bringing together and celebrating incredible talents and performers,” said Bob Stark, Stark Enterprises CEO and poet developer of Crocker Park, in the release.
