A former principal of Admiral King and Lorain high schools will take a seat on the Lorain Academic Distress Commission.

On Jan. 10, Lorain Mayor Chase Ritenauer announced via the social media platform Twitter that Diane Conibear-Xander will fill the open seat left by John Monteleone, who stepped down at the end of 2018.

“Her heart for LCS is unmatched as is her professionalism, background and experience,” Ritenauer said, referring to Lorain City Schools.

“I look forward to her work as a commission member.”

Ritenauer used social media platform Twitter to announce the appointment.

Conibear-Xander said her next steps will be to gather critical facts and examine the truths about the current operational standards and practices of Lorain City Schools.

The Academic Distress Commission must regain community trust and respect for the district, Conibear-Xander said.
