Police: Woman passes counterfei­t $100 bill

Vermilion police say a woman paid for items with a counterfei­t $100 bill Feb. 15 at Goodwill. Officers responded at 4:59 p.m. to 4743 Liberty Ave. for the fraud complaint, according to a Vermilion police report. Upon arrival, the store manager told an officer that around 3 p.m. a woman entered the store and purchased items totaling $10.10. The woman paid with a $100 bill, according to the report. The manager said the bill passed the counterfei­t currency marker test and the marker ink appeared yellow on the bill, the report said. The manager went to a bank to deposit the money, and after checking it three times, the bank deemed it counterfei­t and kept the bill. The suspect was wearing a hairnet and stated she was visiting from Florida, the report said.

Man accused of trespassin­g

A Lorain man was arrested Feb. 17 following recent incidents in the Midway Mall area. The 52-year-old man was charged with resisting arrest, a seconddegr­ee misdemeano­r, and criminal trespass, a fourth-degree misdemeano­r, according to an Elyria police report. Officers had dealt with the man on prior trespassin­g complaints from Jan. 14 to Feb. 16. The locations included Atlas Cinema, 2650 Midway Mall; PNC Bank, 405 Midway Mall; and Red Lobster, 6935 Midway Mall, the report said. Police responded at 9:16 p.m. for a trespasser at the Atlas Cinema. When officers arrived, the man was talking to a cinema employee behind the counter. Officers told him he was unwanted and to leave the business. They then learned of the prior incident and arrested him on a charge of criminal trespass, the report said. Officers then tried to arrest the man, but he resisted, the report said. Police were able to get control of the man. He was then transporte­d to Lorain County Jail.

Police search for robbery suspect

North Olmsted police are looking for a man they say robbed on Feb. 16 a Domino’s Pizza, according to a news release from North Olmsted police Sgt. Dan Barrett. Shortly after 6 p.m., a white male toting a gun entered the restaurant at 25044 Lorain Road, the release said. The suspect left with an undisclose­d amount of money. The incident is under investigat­ion.
