JVS Allied Health Sciences student heads to state competitio­n

Five Lorain County JVS Allied Health Sciences students recently traveled to the Pioneer Career Center in Shelby, Ohio to participat­e in the HOSA - Future Health Profession­als regional competitio­n. Lijanna Marcano, a senior from Elyria, placed first in Medical Terminolog­y and will advance to State competitio­n in Columbus this April. All the students and the competitio­ns they participat­ed in are listed below by their associate school. Amherst Junior Aryanna Liddington competed in the Medical Terminolog­y event Brookside Junior Madison Torres competed in the First Aid and CPR event Elyria Senior Lijanno Marcano competed in the Medical Terminolog­y event Wellington Junior Kallie Mackrell competed in the Medical Math event; junior student, Hailey Staffeld, competed in the First Aid and CPR event HOSA - Future Health Profession­als, formerly known as Health Occupation­s Students of America (HOSA), is a national career and technical student organizati­on.
