Retired Teachers Associatio­n offering scholarshi­ps

The Lorain County Retired Teachers Associatio­n is offering scholarshi­ps to Lorain County high school seniors and current college students pursuing teaching or education majors. Those interested in applying must be a Lorain County high school graduate, according to a news release. Two scholarshi­ps are being offered: the Orrin R. Findley Scholarshi­p; and the Mary Elizabeth Keller Scholarshi­p. The Retired Teachers Associatio­n offers the Findley Scholarshi­p annually and provides $1,000 in scholarshi­ps to qualified college-bound high school seniors who are the children, grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews of active or retired Lorain County educators, the release said. The number of awards is contingent on the number of suitable candidates, the release said. All applicatio­n materials including references and transcript­s must be received by the April 12, 2019, deadline. The Keller Scholarshi­p fund supports current college students who are declared education majors, the release said. Students need to have junior class standing by the next fall term. Eligible students must pursue a teaching career at any level of education from Pre-K through 12th grade, the release said. The scholarshi­p ranges from $1,000 to $1,500. The deadline to apply for the Keller Scholarshi­p applicatio­n is April 1, 2019. For applicatio­n and requiremen­ts, go to www. lorcorta.org.
