The North Ridgeville City Schools Board of Education approved April 16 the hiring of four administrators who will focus on improving student achievement in a district that has seen a significant increase in enrollment. New team members will begin their assignments Aug. 1, said Sam Ameen, communications and marketing supervisor for North Ridgeville Schools. The new hires are: Don Sparks, athletic director; Paul Hieronymus, director of technology and integration; Heather Miller, coordinator of curriculum and instruction; and Dana Eggers, who will fill the new role of coordinator of pupil personnel. “We welcome these experienced educators to our leadership team,” said Kelly McCarthy, president of the school board. “They will all play a critical role in supporting our staff of outstanding educators, and providing them with the resources they need for success.” Sparks will replace interim athletic director Jim Reitenbach. District Superintendent Roxann Ramsey-Caserio said Sparks served as Parma’s Normandy High School athletic director for nine years. He received a bachelor of science in education from Kent State University and a master’s degree in education from Marygrove College in Detroit. As director of technology and integration, Hieronymus will replace the former technology and information systems supervisor and is focused on integrating technology in teaching and learning district-wide. Hieronymus currently serves as the Lakewood City Schools’ coordinator of technology and communication; a position he has held since 2014, Ramsey-Caserio said. He served as a consultant for educational technology integration for the Educational Service Center of Lorain County and also was the curriculum technology coordinator for the Avon City Schools. Hieronymus received a bachelor of science in special education from the University of Akron and also holds a master’s degree in technology education. Miller will take on the new position as the coordinator of curriculum and instruction. This position supports district-wide curriculum initiatives. Miller currently is a consultant for the Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio, a position she has held since 2016. She is an adjunct professor at Notre Dame College teaching undergraduate courses in education and early literacy. From 2013-16, Miller served as the director of curriculum and instruction for the Euclid City Schools. She received a bachelor of science in education and master of education, both from Ashland University. Eggers currently is the autism program director for the Geauga County Educational Service Center, a position she has held since 2010. She received a bachelor of science in hearing and speech sciences from Ohio University, a master of arts in speech language pathology from Kent State University and her pupil services personnel licensure from Cleveland State University. “We are very impressed with the knowledge these educators bring to our leadership team, especially their focus on student success.” Ramsey-Caserio said. “Their collective experience will bring new ideas to the table as we continue to address our district’s growth.”
