Elyria woman accused of causing damage

- — Staff report

A 61-year-old Elyria woman was charged with criminal damaging May 13 after allegedly telling officers she was having a “bad week,” which prompted her to damage another man’s car. At 6 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of 150 Market Drive, near Home Depot, for a man who said someone shattered both of the side mirrors and bent back one of the windshield wipers on his Ford E-250, according to an Elyria police report. The man said he went inside Home Depot and came back to find the damage. Through surveillance footage, the woman was seen driving up to the vehicle, getting out of her car and causing the damages, the report said. When officers approached the woman, she admitted to the damages and said she caused the damage because she was “having a bad week,” the report said. The woman received the citation, which is a second-degree misdemeanor.
