Running camp, golf outing to help cross country programs
Student runners and local golfers can participate in programs supporting Lorain County Community College cross country teams.
The 16th annual LCCC Running Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 17-21 at the college, 1005 N. Abbe Road in Elyria.
The camp is for students in middle school, junior high and high school distance runners.
Daily activities start with a check-in meeting before the morning run.
The day includes talks about topics such as injuries, hydration, goal setting, motivation, cross training and strategies for training and racing.
There will be snacks and lunch, as well as activities with LCCC programs.
LCCC Head Cross Cross Country coach Jim Powers said college and high school coaches, along with our LCCC physical education staff, will provide a well-rounded, informative, challenging and fun experience.
Cost is $150 and includes snacks and meals, a camp T-shirt and entry into the 5K Santarelli Memorial 5K Cross Country Race. Signup is available online or through forms available at the college.
LCCC also will hold a golf outing to benefit the college’s cross country team.
The event will start at 12:30 p.m. July 13 at Bob O Link Golf Course, 4141 Center Road in Avon. Golf starts at 1:30 p.m. and a steak dinner, raffle and awards begins at 6 p.m.
Cost is $75 per person and includes lunch, 18 holes of golf with cart, steak dinner and beverages. Tickets for dinner only at $30.
