Clothing available: Feed the Hungry, Clothe the Needy, a mission program of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, 3015 Meister Road, Lorain, will have clothing available for 50cents a bag from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 16 at which time a free meal will be served. In addition, free blood pressure readings and blood sugar screenings will be offered by the Parish Nurse Program. People can also join us for Sunday Worship at 8, 9:30or 11a.m., and Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.

Casino trip: St. Mary’s Lorain will have its casino bus trip fundraiser to Greektown Casino on Aug. 19. The bus will leave Leave St. Mary’sLorain at 8a.m. and leave the casino at 5p.m. cost is $35a person and includes $15bonus play and $5food coupon. Outdoor service: Come revive your soul with music, singing, prayer, and keynote preaching from Bishop Tracy Malone of the United Methodist Church. All are welcome at 11a.m. Aug. 25, under the tent on the grass in front of the church building at 34077Lorai­n Road, North Ridgeville. A special offering will be taken to support Community Care of North Ridgeville and the Nehemiah Mission in Cleveland. This is an outdoor service so casual dress is fine! Dr. Tom Joyce, Pastor of Fields UMC, and North Ridgeville Mayor David Gillock will provide the welcome and introducti­on. Music will be assisted by Fields praise team Common Union. Bishop Tracy S. Malone is the Resident Bishop of the Ohio East Area, which includes the East Ohio Conference in the North Central Jurisdicti­on of The United Methodist Church. She currently serves as president of the General Commission on the Status and Role of Women and is a member of the Board of Trustees at Garrett-Evangelica­l Theologica­l Seminary. As resident bishop, she also serves on the Boards of Trustees at United Methodist-affiliated colleges, seminaries and organizati­ons in East Ohio. During her ministry, Malone has taught courses as an adjunct professor at Aurora University and at Northern Baptist Seminary in Lombard, Illinois. Russian Food Festival: The Russian Food Festival will be Aug. 16-17at SS. Peter and Paul, 2238E. 32nd St., Lorain. It will run from 4to 9p.m. Aug. 16and 3:30 to 8p.m. Aug. 17. There will be continuous entertainm­ent. Featured menu items will be: Friday only – fish fry; Russian Imperial Dinner, Beef Stroganoff, Borscht, Pirogi Dinners, Stuffed Cabbage, Cabbage and Noodles, Kielbasa and Kraut Sandwiches, Russian Hoagie, Russian style crepes (blini), nutrolls, poppyseed rolls, and assorted bakery items. Summer services: Fields United Methodist Church of North Ridgeville 34077Lorai­n Road, North Ridgeville has put summer service hours into effect. Worship is held on Saturdays at 5 p.m. in the picnic pavilion outside weather permitting, and moving inside on ‘bad’ weather days. Sunday worship is a single service at 10a.m. in the Sanctuary, with our Hispanic Ministry meeting at the same time in our Parlor. Lorain services: Full Gospel Faith Fellowship, 1901 North Ridge Road, Lorain, holds Sunday School at 9:45a.m. and services at 10:30a.m. on Sundays. All are welcome.

Free community meal: On the last Sunday of every month from 12:30to 1:30 p.m., Journey of Faith Church in North Ridgeville cooks and serves a fresh hot meal for those in need in the community. This is done in connection with Community Care in North Ridgeville and other churches in the area. The community meal provides more than a hot meal though.
