The Lorain Police Department is investigating multiple instances of pellet guns damaging parked cars.

Officers responded to multiple reports including one at 7:15 a.m., Aug. 13, in the 1800 block of West 29th Street where a 2001 Ford Explorer had its rear window shattered, according to a Lorain police report.

The pattern continued with a 2004 Buick Rendezvous parked in the 1000 block of West 11th Street, a 2017 GMC Terrain parked in the 2200 block of Oakdale Avenue, a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe parked in the 2600 block of Oakdale Avenue, a 2014 Ford Escape parked in the 1900 block of West 29th Street and a 2007 Honda Odyssey parked in the 1000 block of West Ninth Street.

In all cases, vehicles were damaged by pellet guns at night and were reported the following morning, the report said.

Lorain police officers also received a complaint Aug. 12 shortly after a witness heard a vehicle get shot at during multiple shots fired.

At 11:46 p.m., officers responded to the 800 and 1000 block of West Ninth Street where a witness told officers a white Chevrolet Malibu pulled in front of a house in the 800 block, fired four to five shots and drove off heading west, the report said.

The witness then heard several more shots fired down the road.

The result was a Dodge Durango had its back window shot out.

The second damaged vehicle was a Lincoln LS that sustained damage to its rear and back passenger windows.

The third vehicle, a Chevrolet Silverado, sustained damage to three windows.

Officers determined the type of weapon that caused the damage was either a pellet gun or a small .22-caliber; no shell casings were found at the scene, the report said.

Lorain police Lt. Ed Super said the incidences all seemed to happen sometime after 10:30 p.m. in Central Lorain.

Super said police could use help from citizens who live in the areas of West Ninth Street, West 11th Street, Oakdale Avenue and West 29th Street who have security video.
