Employee at Sandusky-based Parkvue Community receives values award
Shelly Bethke, a statetested nursing assistant at Parkvue Community, 388 Boardwalk in Sandusky, has received the 2019 Living United Church Homes Values Award for demonstrating the group’s core values of compassion, hospitality, respect, integrity, stewardship and transparency.
A resident of Parkvue’s Ongonz Court Fast Track Rehab neighborhood said Bethke embodied all those values, according to a news release from United Church Homes.
Bethke demonstrates compassion by coming into work with a smile, sharing her sunny personality with others and reflecting God’s love, the release said.
Bethke also was nominated for her hospitality because she welcomes residents with loving words, and she respects everyone and watches over all residents with the same passion, according to the release.
“She walks the walk of
Jesus Christ,” her nominator wrote. “Shelly serves Parkvue wisely, and I’m glad she serves me.”
United Church Homes employees are eligible to receive the award throughout the year, and a select few are chosen for the highest honor out of hundreds of nominations, according to the release.
Nominations may be made by staff, volunteers, residents and their families.
“The 2019 Living United Church Homes Values Award recipients earned
UCH’s most coveted staff award,” said Scott Slutz, vice president of human resources. “Shelly exemplifies the commitment to living UCH values every day.
“We recognize Shelly for modeling the values that have become the hallmark of the United Church Homes experience and commitment to serving older adults.”
