Check out new items at libraries

Lorain Public Library System announced this week the addition of two new non traditional items.

“We have added 12 memory care backpacks to our collection,” said Cheryl Paganelli, director of Technical Services. “The backpacks contain DVDs and photo activity cards created for the enjoyment of those with dementia, their caregivers and family in order to provide comfort and inspire connections and conversation through reminiscence.”

Each branch will maintain two of the themed backpacks; all of which are available to check out for a 21-day period with a Lorain Public Library System library card.

The themes and the location of the backpacks are as follows:

• Main Library, 351 W.

Sixth St. in Lorain, Dog and Homemaker collections

• Avon Branch, 37485 Harvest Drive in Avon, Farm and Handyman collections

• Columbia Branch, 13824 W. River Road North in Columbia Station, Summer and Patriotic collections

• Domonkas Branch, 4125 E. Lake Road in Sheffield Lake, Spring and Patriotic collections

• North Ridgeville Branch, 35700 Bainbridge Road, Cat and Great Outdoors collections

• South Lorain Branch, 2121 Homewood Drive in Lorain, Autumn and Winter collections

In addition, Lorain Public Library System has added Lego kits to the list of non traditional items available.

Each branch will have one Lego play set of 790 pieces and one themed kit, each available to circulate for up to 21 days.

The themed kits vary, and each will circulate from a specific branch:

• “Avengers Compound Battle,” Lego kit #76131, 699 pieces for ages 8 and older will be at the North Ridgeville Branch.

• “Star Wars Imperial TIE Fighter,” Lego kit #75211, 519 pieces for ages 9 to 14 will be at the Domonkas Branch.

• “Star Wars Resistance Y-Wing Starfighter,” Lego kit #75249, 578 pieces for ages 8 and older will be at the Columbia Branch.

• “Harry Potter Hogwarts Great Hall,” Lego kit #75954, 878 pieces for ages 9 to 14 will be at the Avon Branch.

• “Harry Potter Hogwarts Clock Tower,” Lego kit #75948, 922 pieces, for ages 9 and older will be at the South Lorain Branch.

• “Harry Potter Hogwarts Express,” Lego kit #75955, 801 pieces, for ages 8 to 14 will be at the Main Branch.
