2 Lorain men face drug charges
Two Lorain men were arrested last week by the Lorain Police Narcotics Unit on drug trafficking charges stemming from two separate investigations headed by narcotics Detective Craig Payne.
On March 26, Michael L. Toney II, 56, was arrested at his residence, 310 W. Seventh St., Apt. 1021, on a charge of trafficking in cocaine, a third-degree felony, after narcotics detectives with assistance from Lorain police road patrol officers executed a search warrant, according to a Lorain police news release.
The trafficking offense is enhanced due to the drug deals taking place within 1,000 feet of the Lorain Bilingual Academy, 307 W.
Seventh St., the release said.
During the search of Toney’s residence, detectives seized a small amount of cocaine, a small amount of marijuana and over $1,800 cash.
On March 27, Willie Wilson, 36, was arrested on trafficking in cocaine charges after narcotics detectives, again with assistance from Lorain police road patrol officers, executed a search warrant at his residence, 1727 Garden Ave.
During the search of Wilson’s
residence, detectives seized over seven grams of suspected fentanyl, five grams of suspected cocaine, over 900 grams of suspected marijuana, over $2,000 cash and a firearm.
The investigations are on-going and both men could face additional charges.
These investigations originated from citizen tips.
The Lorain Police Narcotics Unit encourages anyone who suspects drug activity is taking place in their neighborhood to call 440-204-2108.
Tipsters can remain anonymous.
Toney is scheduled to appear at 1:05 p.m., April 2, before Lorain Municipal Court Judge Mark Mihok.
Wilson has an arraignment scheduled at 9:30 a.m., April 1.
