Players to watch

(in alphabetic­al order) P/1B Ben Bliss, Sr., Wellington: The 2019 D-III Lorain County POY, secondteam NE District and firstteam PAC honoree was the Dukes’ ace with a 1.87ERA with 64strikeou­ts in 45innings pitched. He also batted .489 with 33 hits, four doubles, 21 runs scored, 17 RBI and eight stolen bases last season.

P/INF Tyrus Brewer, Sr., Lorain: A first-team LEL and All-Lorain County honorable mention honoree went 4-3, had a 1.19 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 41.1 innings pitched last season.

OF/P Nick Compton, Sr., Keystone: Findlay commit batted .521with nine doubles and 31 RBI as a junior. He also compiled a .632 on-base percentage and stole 35bases.

P/INF Zak Crabb, Sr., Bay: Led the team with a 2.66ERA in 28.2innings as a junior in 2019.

2B Shawn Donovan, Sr., North Olmsted: A SWC second-team selection batted .402 with 26 RBI and 16 runs scored in 2019. SS/P Evan Engle, Sr.,

Elyria: A Tiffin University commit who went 3-3 with one save and had a 2.95

ERA and 40 strikeouts in 40 innings pitched. He hit .360 with 24 runs, 16 RBI, one home run and had a .505 onbase percentage in 2019.

1B/P Carson Heidecker,

Sr., Columbia: Batted .391 with three home runs and seven doubles as a junior. Also tallied three saves in 2019. He also earned PAC POY honors in addition to being named to the PAC, county and district first teams.

1B Brendan Holley, Sr., Elyria Catholic: A second-team All-Ohio, firstteam All-Lorain County and first-team NE District honoree batted .386 with 34 hits, four home runs, 22 RBI, 28 runs scored, eight extra-base hits and 15 stolen bases last season.

1B/P Mally Kilbane, Jr., Olmsted Falls: Batted .412 with 21 hits, five doubles and 15 RBI. He also recorded two wins and a 2.17ERA while striking out 20batters and making one save as a sophomore.

OF Nate Kisel, Sr., North Ridgeville: A Tri-C commit who batted .307with one home run, 21 RBI, 17 runs scored and five extra-base hits in 2019.

P Carter Klausing, Jr., Vermilion: Went 1-1 last season with a 1.70ERA.

1B Alex Lloyd, Sr., Open

Door: Batted .449, drove in 22 runs, tallied 25 runs scored and racked up nine extra base hits his junior season. Was named to the conference and county first teams.

INF/P Grant Mitchell, Sr., Avon: Tallied 20 hits, including five doubles for the Eagles in 2019.

C Kian Ortiz, Sr., Clearview: A Hiram commit who batted .427with 25RBI and 20 runs scored in 2019.

3B Grant Price, Sr., Firelands: Batted .588with 25 RBI, eight runs scored and three extra-base hits in 2019.

SS Josh Qualls, Jr., Amherst: Batted .287with 18 RBI, four doubles, 19runs scored and five stolen bases as a sophomore.

C/INF Bryce Sanders, Jr., Midview: A first-team AllLorain County and honorable mention SWC honoree batted .354and led the Middies in every offensive category in 2019.

P Ryan Shinko, Sr., Avon Lake: A first-team All-Lorain County and first-team SWC honoree went 4-1 with a 1.44ERA in 432⁄3 innings. He also struck out 57batters in 2019.

P/1B Sam Thompson, Sr., Oberlin: A Kenyon commit batted .415last year and drove in 11 runs.
