Kiwanis Club hosting virtual membership event Sept. 24
Kiwanis Club of Lorain is hosting is first membership event “Make an IMPACT, One Child at a Time” from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Sept. 24.
The meeting will be through Zoom.
Guest speakers for this event are Susan Spivey, a long time Kiwanian and branch manger from the Lorain Public Library System, and William Pees, from the Ohio District Kiwanis, according to a news release.
“They will be sharing there experiences with Kiwanis and what the club is all about,” said Giovana Kallas, president of Kiwanis Club of Lorain. “The
Kiwanis Club of Lorain is welcoming new members.”
Meetings take place on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month.
The first meeting of each month is from noon to 1 p.m. and the second meeting is from 6 to 7 p.m.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time, according to the release.
“We are proud of some of our clubs initiatives since our return to the community,” the release said. “We have provided scholarships for Lorain High School students, have supported the cities beautification project and are wrapping up a book project for Camp Ideas and
Blessing House.
“We sponsor Key Club and Builders club, which, encourage leadership development through service to others.”
“Kids need Kiwanis, now more than ever before,” Pees said. “Studies shows that volunteering enhances social networks, improves mental health and contributes to a higher level of happiness, self-esteem, selfworth and life satisfaction.
