Two face charges in alleged home shooting
A Lorain man and teenager face charges in alleged firing of multiple rounds Jan. 16 into an occupied house.
David L. Taylor, 18, was charged with improperly discharging a firearm into a habitation, a second-degree felony, improper handling of a firearm in a vehicle, carrying concealed weapons and weapons under disability, all third-degree felonies, obstructing official business, a fifth-degree felony, and resisting arrest, a second-degree misdemeanor, according to a Lorain police report.
The 17-year-old was transported to the Lorain County Juvenile Detention Center and was issued a summons to Lorain County Juvenile Court on delinquency charges of improper handling of a firearm in a vehicle, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, discharging a firearm into a habitation, carrying concealed weapons, compliance with a lawful order/fleeing and several traffic offenses.
At 9:58 p.m., officers heard several shots fired in the area of West 23rd Street and Reid Avenue.
Officers saw a black Nissan
traveling fast from the area and followed to attempt to stop it.
The chase stopped when the car crashed into a parked car at West 17th Street and Broadway.
Officers saw Taylor and the teen flee the vehicle.
Residents on West 23rd St. said they were doing laundry with a 5-year-old girl, or sitting on a couch holding a 3-month-old girl when shots hit a large picture window and went through to an interior wall opposite the window. Another bullet hit a window on Kelly Place, police said.
