Lorain facing tough D-I draw
If the Lorain boys basketball team is to make another tournament run, it won’t be easy.
Brackets for the four divisions across Ohio were released Feb. 7. The Titans — the No. 10 seed — learned their draw in Northeast 6 district, where it plays the winner of North Royalton-Midview on Feb. 27. If it advances, it could face a potential matchup against No. 5 seed Garfield Heights in a district semifinal.
Lorain fans will likely be asking the status of senior Seth Wilson, who’s averaging more than 23 points this season. Wilson recently suffered a thumb injury, and has missed the Titans’ last five games.
The 6-foot-3 guard headed to West Virginia could be back in time for the start of the tournament. That would be a huge boost for Coach John Rositano’s 6-5 team.
Amherst is the No. 13 seed in Northeast 6, and plays Wadsworth on Feb. 27. Waiting for the winner will likely be the No. 2 seed St. Ignatius in a district semifinal.
In D-I Northeast 5 district, Elyria plays Medina Highland on Feb. 24 in a first-round game. Olmsted Falls is the No. 12 seed in Northeast 5, and plays Brecksville-Broadview Heights on Feb.
27. The winner likely faces No. 1 seed St. Edward in a district semifinal.
Other district matchups involving top seeded area teams:
