Police: 2 tied up in Westlake robbery
A robbery March 15 at Westlake’s Columbia Colony Apartments, 25635 Center Ridge Road, left two residents tied up and injured in their apartment.
Westlake police and surrounding agencies responded to the apartment complex around 7:41 a.m. for an assault and robbery in progress, according to a news release.
Witnesses reported that several males were involved and left the area on foot with a handgun.
After surrounding the complex, police found a suspect in the woods behind the apartment complex, with another was found near the shopping plaza at the corner of Canterbury and Center Ridge roads, the release said.
A woman also believed to be involved in the robbery was stopped in a silver pickup truck at Dover and Center Ridge roads.
All of the suspects involved were taken into custody and a handgun was recovered, according to the release.
After investigating, police found that the two victims were tied up in the apartment before several items were stolen.
Both victims initially were treated by the Westlake Fire Department, the release said.
One was transported to a hospital with what are believed to be non-lifethreatening injuries.
Investigators believe this was not a random act and the specific apartment that was robbed was targeted, according to the release.
The suspects’ motives and relationships to the victims are under investigation.
Official charges for the suspects are expected to be filed March 16.
