Hundreds of books, CDs and DVDs are on sale for $1 a bag at the Lorain Public Library System’s Domonkas Branch, 4125 E. Lake Road in Sheffield Lake.

In efforts to raise funds for the library, Friends of the Domonkas Public Library, hosts three book sales a year, said Charlene Svoboda, book sale chairperson.

The March Madness book sale began March 17.

“There will be times when the library asks us for funds we’ve raised to put on children programming,” Svoboda said. “These sales really help.”

Although the library receives grants, Svoboda said not all of the yearly activities can be completed with the operating levy.

with programs at the branch,” she said. “The levy only covers so much.”

Patrons can visit the branch from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., March 18; 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., March 19; and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., March 20.

Content includes novels, fiction, young adult, children’s books, autobiographies, cookbooks and various other books.

“It’s nice to give back to the community since their tax dollars paid for the books,” Svoboda said. “We’re able to give them the books for a very, very reasonable price.”

The last book sale was in September 2020 and the next one is anticipated to take place in May, she said.

crafts, food items and different activities for the community if we can,” Svoboda said.

The sale has something for everyone, and for only $1, a bag of books and other media can be purchased and help the community, she said.

“We have a lot of books covering lots of different subject matter,” Svoboda said. “We take cash or check, and we’ll be here until Saturday.”
