Avon Lake High School seniors named National Merit Scholarshi­p Finalists

Avon Lake High School has announced three senior students have been named as National Merit Finalists from the 2021 National Merit Scholarshi­p Corporatio­n.

About 15,000 students across the country were recently named as Finalists in 66th annual National Merit Scholarshi­p Program. These academical­ly talented high school seniors have an opportunit­y to continue in the competitio­n for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarshi­ps worth more than $30 million that will be offered later this spring. The students are:

John “Jack” Fazio, 17, whose hobbies include photograph­y, running, swimming and coaching swimming.

His potential college choices are: Miami University (Ohio), Ohio State University, Dartmouth College, Cornell University, Vanderbilt University and University of Virginia.

He plans majors in Microbiolo­gy and Statistics/Data Science.

He is the son of Stephen and Jennifer Fazio.

Emmet Fink, 17, whose hobbies include golf, tennis, playing and listening to music. His potential college pick is Ohio State University, and he plans majors in mathematic­s and education.

He is the son of Doug and Elise Fink.

Grace Osoteo, 18, whose hobbies include singing, playing guitar, D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) and video games, and reading.

Her potential college choices are University of Michigan, Duke University, Carnegie Mellon University, Yale University and San Diego State University. She plans a double major including music theater.

She is the daughter of Mark and Julie Osoteo.
