Lorain Sports HOF enshrinement banquet moved
After a year of waiting, the Lorain Sports Hall of Fame enshrinement banquet is back on.
The banquet, which was initially scheduled to take place in May of 2020 before being postponed to May 8, 2021, will now take place Sept. 4 at German’s Villa in Vermilion.
In a release announcing the change, Banquet Chairman Rom Bauer said the September date was picked so all those wishing to receive coronavirus vaccinations could do so in time for the banquet.
The 2020 inductees who will be honored at the ceremony are below:
Regular category
• Brad Balmert, sailboat racing, Lorain (class of 1977)
• Anjeannette Chet Caffarel, volleyball, basketball, Lorain Catholic (class of 1995), John Carroll
• Mary Lou Rebman Poli, bowling, Lorain Catholic (class of 1977)
• Vince Villanucci, football, wrestling, coaching, Lorain (class of 1982), Bowling Green
• Barry Rush, football, track, Lorain (class of 1981), Illinois Valley Community College
• Lisa Nickoloff Lindberg, basketball, volleyball, Admiral King (class of 1992), Mount Union
Senior category
• Otis Jenkins, track, football, Clearview (class of 1973), University of Louisville
• Chris Gregg, football, Admiral King (class of 1964), Bowling Green
Special category
• Karen Boyle, track and field, cross country, coaching, Lorain (class of 1975), Bowling Green

Anyone who purchased a ticket for the 2020 banquet that was canceled and requires a refund, call Ron Feldkamp at 440-396-6849.
The LSHOF also announced its winners of the J Ed Uland scholarship award.
Winners are based on a combination of excellence in athletics, academics, leadership and community service.
The 2020 recipients are:
• Clearview’s Chase Christensen and Madilyn Love
• Lorain’s Ta’Lia Harris and Joseph Vaughn
