PLAYER OF THE YEAR Brady Grove, Amherst

When you take a look at the competition Amherst faced in 2021 it’s not hard to understand why Brady Grove was Southwestern Conference player of the year as a goalie. Grove finished the season allowing just 1.8 goals per game with a 92.6 save percentage facing off against the likes of Rocky River, Avon, Olmsted Falls and others.

COACH OF THE YEAR Kyle Botos, Avon

It was quite the year for Avon Hockey as not only were they the last area team standing in the playoffs, they also won their first Baron Cup in school history. Botos won SWC coach of the year and was the unanimous choice when area coaches were asked who should win this award. The Eagles not only won the Baron Cup, but knocked Amherst out of the playoffs with a 2-1victory in overtime, earning their first district semifinal appearance in school history. Botos has built something special in Avon and it looks to be built to last.
