Juice bar brings in customers

Colorful swirls of pink, orange, yellow and green wrap themselves around the walls of Juice Me Juice Bar in downtown Lorain.

The new shop located at 712 Broadway Ave. opened in January, and since has had hundreds of customers support the business.

Georgia Curry, owner, said she’s proud of the success of the business.

True to her vision, Curry said the juice shop is bright, bubbly and smells of fresh fruit and vegetables.

“I want people to feel happy when they walk into the building,” she said. “I want it to have a hippie and happy feel; I’m a little bit of a hippy.”

The menu consists of drinks designed by Curry and Olivia Brooks-Scrivanich, her sister who studies homeopathic medicine.

“Olivia is so healthy,” Curry said. “She’s a health nut and she helps me come up with recipes.

“She’s come up with most of the ones we have.”

Curry said the recipes only contain fresh fruit and vegetables to maximize the health benefits to the customers.

The fresh juices are meant to give customers all the necessary vitamins, minerals and nutrients that human bodies need, she said.

“Other juice and smoothie places put sherbet in their smoothies and use frozen fruit with added sugars and preservatives,” Curry said. “They’re not healthy.”

With hours from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays, the juice bar has become a daily stop for customers.

“We want them to be happy and comfortable and enjoy their smoothies

and juices,” Curry said. “We want them to relax and come back.”

Jennifer Scanlan, a crew member at the juice bar, said the environment is something that keeps customers coming back.

“I love it; I love it here and the atmosphere,” Scanlan said. “Georgia is super understanding and the customers love it.

“You can tell when someone hasn’t been here yet.

Their eyes light up when they walk in.”

Currently, Juice Me Juice Bar is the only juice shop in Ohio certified to add cannabidiol (CBD) products into smoothies and juices, Curry said.

Although she is looking for a CBD supplier that matches the qualifications needed in Ohio, she said she plans to add the CBD to the menu.

As the summer nears,

Scanlan said Curry is looking at different recipes as new fruits and vegetables come into season.

“It’s so exciting we can’t wait until the season,” Scanlan said. “We wanted to start with a few recipes, and we’re in the talks of maybe adding food once we get our bearings.

“I’m so excited to see where we go. There’s a lot of foot traffic in the summer months.”
