Season in swing Tee-ball organizers build excitement
Children ages 4 to 7 were running around with bright and brand new baseball gloves at South Park Recreational Center in Elyria.
The Elyria South Tee Ball Club held its first tee ball registration and training camp on April 10 and children were ready to play. Aric Bowens, organizer of the South Tee Ball Club said the event was a dream come true.
“It’s a beautiful day, a nice day and we’re going to work with the kids on conditioning drills. I’m just so excited. The turnout has been great,” he said.
The first 30 children to show up were given scholarships to cover the registration costs. However, due to a number of donors including the Kareem Hunt Foundation, Bowens said, all of the children in attendance were given scholarships to play for free.
Children received a tshirt and new baseball gloves during registration. According to Bowens, the gloves were provided from Elyria community members who participated in a glove drive for the children.
