Library names Dake new board member

- Staff report

Lorain Public Library System has announced the addition of Tom Dake, vice president/partner of Superior Industrial Insulation Company, as the latest member of its board of trustees.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Tom as a member of our board,” said library system Director Anastasia Diamond-Ortiz in a news release. “His long list of nonprofit experience and personal history within the Lorain Public Library System make him a wonderful addition, and we’re eager to hear his ideas moving forward.”

Dake replaces Col. Keith Belanger, who left the board earlier this year.

Dake, whose term will expire Dec. 31, 2024, was born and raised in North Ridgeville where he attended North Ridgeville High School and later graduated from Lorain County Community College.

He has a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from the University of Toledo and a master’s of public administration from Cleveland State University, according to the release.

He is an adjunct faculty member with Lorain County Community College in the Social Sciences and Human Services Division.

Dake’s history with the Lorain library began as one of the first Browser mascots, the release said.

Since then, he has been a vice president of the Friends of the North Ridgeville Branch Library Inc., a president of the Foundation of the Lorain Public Library System and even the DJ at a couple of the Summer Reading Program parties, according to the release.

“I am excited to continue to be a part of this wonderful organization that truly is a cornerstone of our community,” Dake said. “I look forward to bringing my skills and talents to the organization to continue to move us forward.”
