On one of the hottest days of the summer, the bats finally warmed up for the Lake Erie Crushers, scoring more runs on Aug, 24 than they had in their last four games combined.

However, it was still not enough to snap their four-game losing streak and the Crushers fell to the Southern Illinois Miners, 10-7, at Mercy Health Stadium. The Miners (45-34) extend their winning streak to seven games.

The Crushers (34-44) fell down early as the Miners got three runs

in the top of the second inning, thanks to a two-run single, but the Crushers got it back and more in the bottom half of the second, scoring four runs with a homerun by Bryan De La Rosa and an infield single by Steven Kraft scored two more runners to make the score 4-3.

“We were a little more aggressive at the plate, swinging at fastballs and not chasing so much,” Lake Erie manager Dan Rohn said.
