Standoff ends on Leavitt Road
Lorain police ended a standoff around 1:48 p.m. on Aug. 26, in the 3900 block of Leavitt Road, also known as state Route 58.
The incident stemmed from an earlier shooting in the city, according to Lorain police Capt. Roger Watkins.
About 12:50 p.m., police received calls of a shooting in the 900 block of West 18th Street, Watkins said.
Offices found a juvenile struck by gunfire with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.
From there, police received information that a vehicle suspected in that incident was spotted at 3900 Leavitt Road, Watkins said.
It appeared at least three people were taken into police custody at the scene.
However, a suspect in the original incident has not been arrested, Watkins said.
Officers also seized several firearms from the Leavitt Road home, he said.
Anyone with information about the incident should call Detective Chris Colon at 440-204-2105.
At least 13 police cars and trucks were on scene near the house where officers had their guns drawn.
Police Chief James McCann also was on scene for a time.
A K-9 unit was near the scene of one of the city’s busiest roads, that also is undergoing road repavement.
