Ruth Butkowski (nee Mihok)

Ruth Butkowski (nee Mihok), age 92, of North Ridgeville, and formerly of Lorain, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on the evening of Thursday August 26, 2021. Ruth was born in Lorain on December 28, 1928 and had been a resident of the city for the majority of her life; she relocated to North Ridgeville eight months ago.

Ruth was a graduate of Lorain High School and went on to complete vocational training in secretarial studies. Over the course of many years she had been employed as a secretary and administrative aid for Thew Shovel of Lorain, Aztec Chemical in Elyria, and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Lorain County.

A member of Ss. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church in Sheffield Township, Ruth was a devoted Christian wife and mother. In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her children, and traveling with her daughter and son-in-law. Additional interests included dining out, planting flowers and going for walks.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Jones (Clarence) of North Ridgeville, and sister, Mildred Telloni of Vermilion. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in 1982; her son, Daniel in 2016, and one additional son in infancy; parents, Stephen and Maria (nee Cirbus) Mihok; brother, Steve Mihok; and sister, Mary Bendik.

Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel -3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Additional visitation will take place Tuesday in Ss. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church – 1500 Lincoln Boulevard from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Edgar Anthony, Pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
