Walter J. Kruszewski “Kruz”, age 84, a lifelong resident of Lorain passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Mercy New Life Hospice Center after a 12-month battle with cancer.

He was born on January 19, 1937, in Lorain, Ohio and was a 1954 graduate of Lorain High School. Walter served his country in the United States Army in Korea.

Walter retired after 50 years as the Vice President of the former Ohio Sanitary Supply Company. He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, a Life Spike Member of the Home Builders Associatio­n, and a Lifetime member of the Beaver Park Yacht Club. Fishing, hunting, and boating were the activities that Walter truly enjoyed. He was a member of the Beaver Park Marina and loved spending time with his friends there. For the past 25 years he loved spending the winter months at his residence in Englewood, Florida and enjoyed fishing with his friends there.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia (nee Smigel) Kruszewski; daughter, Kathleen (Rich) Kubasak, of Lorain; grandchild­ren, Michael (Jennifer) Kubasak of Brunswick, OH, Michelle (Jake) Dowdell, of Delaware, OH; and great-grandchild­ren, Liam, Lucas, and Ava Dowdell.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Angela LaBella; and step-father, Michael LaBella.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Hematology, Oncology Group on Shadden Road and to New Life Hospice for their care and compassion.
