Stephen D. Horton

Stephen D. Horton, age 60, entered into rest Tuesday August 31, 2021. He was born on June 27, 1961 in Akron, Ohio.

He graduated in 1979 from Midpark High School in Middleburg Hts and in 1986 from the University of Akron with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Steve was a chemical engineer with Geon Performance Solutions in Westlake. He was an active Boy Scout Leader and Girl Scout Leader in Avon Lake and Avon. He enjoyed traveling, especially visiting National & State Parks, enjoyed photography and loved the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Martha Horton (nee Brose), children Cassandra Horton and Drew Horton, mother Donna Horton (nee Henkel), brothers David (Karen) , Thomas (Judy), William J. (Claudia), James (Carri), and Ronald Horton, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father William E. Horton. The family will receive friends on Sunday September 5, 2021 from 4:00- 7:00 pm at the MISENCIK FUNERAL HOME, 36363 Detroit Rd. Avon. (Masks will be required).

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 33601 Detroit Rd. Avon. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be may to the National Park Foundation, 1500 K Street NW, Suite 700, Washington D.C. 20005.
