Columbia Twp. thefts result in arrest
The Lorain County Sheriffs Office Detective Bureau investigated rash of thefts from vehicles and residential burglaries in the Columbia Township area and arrested a local man.
With assistance from area neighbors who supplied video footage, captured on Ring doorbell cameras, investigators identified and issued arrest warrants Sept. 1 for the Columbia Station man, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Upon further investigation, investigators determined the identity of the man’s female accomplice who resides in Cuyahoga County.
The man and the female have extensive criminal records.
The female’s identity is not being released until she is indicted, according to the release.
The crimes appear to be fueled by substance abuse problems involving illicit street drugs, the release said.
On Sept. 2, the Lorain County Sheriffs Office was made aware that the man was taken into custody by the Cleveland Division of Police.
He was transported to the Lorain County Jail.
