North Pointe Ballet presents ‘Cinderella’

Ballet in the Park graces Lakeview Park on Sept. 9

North Pointe Ballet will continue its successful partnership with Lorain County Metro Parks to present safe, outdoor arts experiences that are accessible and free to the community, according to a news release.

Throughout the novel coronavirus pandemic, the Metro Parks and the North Pointe Ballet have worked together to present “Ballet in the Park” in September 2020, “Sleeping Beauty” in May 2021 and “Dance a Story” camps in July 2021, the release said.

At 6:30 p.m., Sept. 9, the company will perform a condensed version of “Cinderella,” set to the classical score composed by Sergei Prokofiev, followed by “I’m With the Band,” a jazzy contemporary ballet created by Janet Dziak which premiered in 2018,,according to the release.

Audience members will see North Pointe Ballet professional dancers perform alongside students from local dance studios, as well as participants from group’s A Chance to Dance program and dance students from El Centro De Servicios Sociales in Lorain.

North Pointe Ballet’s performance will take place at Lakeview Park, 1800 W. Erie Ave. in Lorain.

Audience members are encouraged to bring a chair or a blanket for lawn seating. This show is free to the general public.
