Clippers: Bryan Lavastida’s three-run, walk-off home run capped a fiverun seventh inning, and Triple-A Columbus beat St. Paul in the first game of a doubleheader, 9-8. Gabriel Arias’ two-run double earlier in the seventh set the table for Lavastida. He also had a two-run double in the first inning. In the second game, St. Paul’s Drew Maggi singled in a run in the second inning to lift the Saints, 1-0. The Clippers were limited to three hits. RubberDucks (67-40):
Visiting Altoona took care of Double-A Akron, 7-2. Thomas Ponticelli gave up three runs in 3 2⁄3 innings. Will Brennan had two sacrifice flies for the RubberDucks.
Captains (58-50): Mason Hickman struck out nine in six innings, and High-A Lake County blanked South Bend, 1-0, in a two-hitter. Aaron Bracho’s home run in the seventh inning accounted for the scoring. Hillcats (53-55): Jorge Burgos had three hits, two runs scored and an RBI as Low-A Lynchburg poured it on Myrtle Beach, 10-2.
