Lorain man arrested in Elyria homicide

A Lorain man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a 20-year-old Elyria man on Sept. 3.

Elyria police detectives in collaboration with the Ohio Adult Parole Authority, Lorain police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested Raython Fields, 27, of Lorain.

He is currently being held in the Lorain County Jail.

Yadiel Torres was found by police dead on a sidewalk in the 300 block of Broad Street.

At 2:20 a.m., officers responded to 356 Broad St. for a report of a shooting, police said on Sept. 3.

Police found the victim on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
