- Staff report

The two organizations will partner to host events at the venue, including the Boeckling Classic and Jingle Bell Jam — an Ohio High School Athletic Associationsanctioned basketball event during winter break, according to the release.

NorthCoast Showtime basketball and volleyball have found a home at Cedar Point Sports Center.

The two organizations recently inked a contract that will bring NorthCoast Showtime’s basketball and volleyball youth travel programs into the new sports venue, according to a news release from Cedar Point Sports Center.

After successfully running a fall basketball league for fourth through 12th grades and the Boeckling Classic — a high school basketball tournament — a conversation started between John Cahill, CEO of NorthCoast Showtime, and Cedar Point Sports Center management regarding future collaboration, increased utilization of the venue by the sports organization, and partnership details, the release said.

NorthCoast Showtime will host their basketball and volleyball tryouts at Cedar Point Sports Center and will have all their weekday practices in the venue as well, according to the release.

Players from the travel sports organization also will help the sports center with running youth basketball and volleyball camps and clinics throughout the year, the release said.

“Showtime is thrilled to partner with Cedar Point Sports Center,” Cahill said of the venue. “It is the premier facility in our region and the people there make it first class.

“The possibilities are endless, and we’ve hit the ground running with the events already planned.”

The size and quality of the facility is one of many reasons Cahill said he was drawn to Cedar Point Sports Center, as NorthCoast Showtime can host practices for their teams in the same building within a smaller window of time during the day.

“Having all volleyball and basketball teams in the facility is a huge advantage on multiple fronts,” he said. “We can coordinate practices that will make travel for parents and teams much simpler.”

“We are very excited about the partnership with NorthCoast Showtime,” said Wes Hall, general manager of Cedar Point Sports Center.

“Basketball and volleyball in the community are elevated when we work together with a club organization, in addition to our CPSC youth leagues, to provide more kids the opportunity to play,” Hall said.
