The Avon Police Department conducted an underage alcohol buy operation at over-the-counter retail locations Sept. 9 using a confidential informant aged 18 and found no violations, according to a news release.

The operation was headed by Avon police Lt. Keith Haag and was conducted by members of the Criminal Investigative Unit, the release said.

During the operation, 15 establishments were checked for compliance, according to the release.

The purpose was to gauge the extent to which retail outlets sell to underaged persons, younger than age 21, as well as a follow-up from past checks.

During the compliance check, 15 of 15 employees from the businesses asked for identification, the release said.

The employees who were found to be in compliance were recommended for a congratulatory letter from Avon Police Department.
