City welcomes second annual Avant Garde Art and Craft Show
Crafters and creatives returned to Avon for the second annual Avant Garde Art and Craft Show on Sept. 12 at the Emerald Event Center.
Held in the back parking lot, the craft show welcomed 30 vendors featuring handmade creations from nature photography, jewelry, crochet designs and even gourmet cotton candy.
The traditional fall event offers a little something for everyone looking to spruce up their home décor or find a new take on their personal style.
“When COVID hit last year we launched our first outdoor show at the Emerald Event Center and it was a huge hit,” said show founder Becki Silverstein.
Typically hosting two indoor events indoors, Silverstein wanted to offer an opportunity for their vendors and shoppers to get the same experience but in an open space during the pandemic.
With 30 handpicked local vendors showcasing their original homemade items and creations, Silverstein added she believed the 2021 show would highlight the best they’ve offered to date.
Featured vendors included Adrienne Challinor Hair Bling Art, who makes barrettes from recycled sea glass and beach art inspired by nature, in addition to Erin Bruening of SPIN Gourmet Cotton Candy along with many others.
Founded in June, 2011 Avant-Garde Art & Craft Shows are a series of art and craft events held throughout the Midwest year-round showcasing local vendors. Proceeds from events are donated to local charities.
