Crushers finish season with loss
Host Evansville beat the Crushers, 3-1, in the season finale Sept. 12.
Shawon Dunston Jr. doubled to lead off the game, then came home on a single by Zach Racusin. After that, Lake Erie only advanced a runner past second base once the rest of the game. The Crushers left nine on base.
Racusin finished with three hits, including a double.
In the first at-bat of the bottom of the first inning, Crushers manager Dan Rohn, who is returning, pitched to Evansville bench coach Boots Day, who is also retiring. Rohn retired Day on a groundout.
Paul Hall Jr. took the loss for Lake Erie. He pitched 5 2/3 innings, giving up three runs (two earned), striking out five and walking one.
The Crushers finished 41-55.
