Rubberduck­s (71-46): Double-A Akron managed just four hits in a 2-0loss to visiting Somerset in a key game for the race to get the No. 1 overall seed in the Double-A Northeast playoffs. Somerset is 72-45 and in first in the Northeast Division. Bowie (72-46) holds a half-game lead on Akron in the Southwest Division. Captains (64-54): High Single-A Lake County lost, 8-3, to visiting Beloit but will head into their next game no worse tied for a playoff spot with two games to play in the regular season.

Lake County’s 64-54 record will be at the least tied for first. That’s because Great Lakes entered the night with a 63-54 record. Its game against Wisconsin was not completed in for this edition. Lake County fell to visiting Beloit, 4-0, after three innings, then a four-run fifth proved very costly. Hillcats (58-58): Low Single-A Lynchburg lost, 5-2, at Fredericks­burg as it fell into a 5-0 hole after two innings. Alexfri Planez went 3 for 4 for the the Hillcats. Petey Halpin and Milan Tolentino had an RBI.
