Vivienne R. Bickley (nee: Rick), 95 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at New Life Hospice in Lorain following a full and meaningful life.

She was born June 6, 1926 in Lorain, graduating from Clearview High School with the class of 1944 She was well loved in high school and was an honor student. Vivienne was involved in many school clubs and was a cheerleade­r. Vivienne had made Amherst her home for most of her life.

Vivienne met her husband Leonard while he was still a dental student at Ohio State Dental School. During World War II she was active in the USO writing letters to the men serving overseas. In her earlier years, she worked at National Tube in Lorain. Vivienne also worked alongside her husband Leonard in his dental office as his secretary and his chair side assistant. She was an avid reader and loved writing. She was a founding member of the Amherst Historical Society. Vivienne wrote a monthly article for the Amherst Historical Society published in their monthly publicatio­n called “Do you Remember When? She was an inspiring mother to her children. Vivienne provided many opportunit­ies for her children. She enjoyed the arts, especially painting and dancing.

Survivors include her loving daughter Jeanine Bickley of Amherst.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard J. Bickley on February 2, 1982; her sons Jay Bickley on April 10, 2020 and Craig and Jeffrey as infants; and her parents Louis J. and Helen Rick (nee: Churpeck).

Services will be held privately by the family..
