Steven J. Kniceley, 67, of Elyria, went to be with his Lord after a brief illness on September 9, 2021. He was born and raised in Lorain and was a 1972 graduate of Admiral King High School. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Wilma (nee Futrell) Kniceley. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janet (nee Ahlgrim) Kniceley; son Kyle Kniceley (Maya Cortes) and sister, Callie Kniceley.

Steve worked, from 1996 until his retirement in 2015, as an Account Executive at wire and cable manufactur­er, IEWC. Previous to that he was employed by Harris Corporatio­n and Belden, Inc.

Music was always an important part of Steve’s life beginning at age four when he first learned to play the piano. He used his musical gifts and talents in playing the piano and organ for over twenty years at both Church of the Open Door in Elyria and then at Trinity Evangelica­l Free Church in Amherst.

Steve was a 20+ year member of SASS, Single Action Shooters Society. Among his fellow shooters he was known as “Old Dan Cotton.” He was also a long time member of the NRA.

Traveling across the United States was Steve’s life-long dream. Along with his wife, Jan, they made many trips to the Western States. He was a lover of God and country. Steve will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The Hempel Funeral Home is honored to serve the Steven J.
