University Hospitals updates visitor policy

-

As novel coronavirus cases continue to rise in Northeast Ohio, University Hospitals is amending its visitor policy.

Beginning Sept. 21, UH patients may welcome one designated visitor per day, according to a news release from UH.

This is different from the previous practice of one visitor at a time, the release said.

Clinically, when COVID-19 positive numbers rise, limiting visitors limits the potential exposure to and spread of the virus.

The visitor policy at UH seeks to provide a healing environment that is safe for everyone, the release said.

Further information about visitation policies, including a breakdown of guidelines for different departments, can be found on the UHhospitals.org visitor information webpage.

Individual visitation needs may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to address special circumstances or to ensure access to clergy, the release said.

The UH visitor policy will continue to adapt to reflect current conditions.
