Library system seeks new board member

The Lorain Public Library System is accepting applicatio­ns for a position on the Board of Trustees.

The position will fill a term that expires Dec. 31.

The stipulated term length is seven years, with a two-term limit, according to a news release from the library.

“Opportunit­ies to join the board do not come often,” said Anastasia Diamond-Ortiz, director of the Lorain Public Library System in the news release.

“We’re looking for someone who will be excited about this opportunit­y and be committed to contributi­ng to the mission, values and goals of the Lorain Public Library System.”

Candidates must be a resident of the service area of Lorain Public Library System at the time of appointmen­t, the release said.

The service area includes Avon, Camden Township, Columbia Township, Eaton Township within the Columbia Local School District, Henrietta Township, Kipton Village, Lorain, North Ridgeville, Sheffield Lake, Sheffield Township and Sheffield Village.

Library board meetings take place monthly, usually the third Thursday of each month, the release said.

Location varies from branch-to-branch throughout the year.

The nominating committee will interview candidates in late October.
