Robert Francis Hlava
Robert Francis Hlava, 81 of Avon Lake peacefully passed away under hospice care on Thursday, September 23, 2021. He was born June 1, 1940 to parents Ludwig and Antonia (nee Psarsky) Hlava in Lakewood, OH.
In his early years, Bob was employed at Continental Can and American Greetings of Cleveland. Shortly after moving to Avon Lake in 1965, he became employed by the Avon Lake Post Office where he was a letter carrier for forty-two years. Bob’s
hobbies included many sports; and was a member of Good Times Golf League of Cleveland. He was a little league coach for Avon Lake and liked to speak about the fact that he’d play any sport which had a ball in it. Bob loved to use his artistic talents by drawing pen and inks for friends and family. His creativity was also displayed by spending time in the yard and feeding the birds and squirrels which were very comfortable watching him do so.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Anita (nee Forcucci) of 59 years; loving children: Steven R. (Palagia), Karl A. (Lisa), Jonelle L. Cillo, Matthew R., Lorin G. Szalai (Dennis); cherished grandchildren: Brianna Hlava, Evan Hlava, Dennis Szalai (Gabi) and Kathryn Szalai; great-grandchildren: Essa and Easton; dear siblings: Mary Ann Beachy, Agnes Matus and Jerome Hlava (Donna).
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Julius, Helen Fedorko, Louis, Frank, Ruth Taylor and Patsy Woike.
